Trashion is a term used to describe art, jewelry, fashion and objects for the home created using thrown-out, found and repurposed elements. It is a philosophy which encompasses environmentalism and innovation, stemming from a desire to make the best use out of limited resources.
We are encouraging participants to enter the contest by designing and creating an outfit out of materials that are destined for the landfill, and then putting their creative outfits on display during the Fashion / Trashion Show. The event is also host to a silent auction which helps to raise funds for the charitable organizations mentioned above.
This event will be taking place Sunday, April 22nd (Earth Day), at the Rockford Bar & Grill patio, beginning at 2pm. This is a great way to celebrate creativity, and shine a light on the issue of waste, while raising money for 2 outstanding charities.
